KanElect is a flexible spending account offered by the State of Kansas to benefits eligible employees. It allows the employee to pay for non-reimbursed health care expenses for the employee and their immediate family members, and dependent daycare expenses with pretax dollars.

Dependent Care:
Participation in the KanElect
Dependent Care Flexible Spending
Account plan allows the employee to pay for dependent
care expenses with pre-tax dollars. The employee must sign up for the
flexible spending account when initially eligible, within 31 days of a
qualifying event or every year during open enrollment whether they have
participated before or not.
Health Care:
Participation in the KanElect Health Care
Flexible Spending Account plan
allows
the employee to pay for unreimbursed medical and dental care expenses
with pre tax dollars. The employee must sign up for the flexible
spending account when initially eligible, within 31 days of a qualifying
event or every year during open enrollment whether they have participated
before or not.
When Eligible: 1st day of the month following 60 days of employment, during open enrollment period, or within 31 days of a qualifying event.
Who Pays: The employee contributes to these accounts. There is no university contribution.
